Preparatory Curriculum

Y6 to Y9

Key Stage 3 at SILS marks a crucial phase in a student’s educational journey, representing a period of significant growth, exploration, and transition. Spanning the ages of 11 to 14, this transformative stage serves as a bridge between the formative years of primary education and the challenges of secondary education and IGCSE. KS3 at SILS provides fertile ground for students to broaden their horizons, deepen their knowledge, and develop the essential skills needed for future success.

At the heart of SILS KS3 lies an enriched and diverse curriculum that builds upon the foundations laid in earlier stages. Our students delve deeper into core subjects such as English, mathematics, science, the humanities, and modern foreign languages. They engage in thought-provoking discussions, conduct scientific experiments, explore historical events, and develop critical thinking abilities. We encourage our students to think independently, analyze complex information, and express themselves effectively.

Beyond academic growth, our KS3 emphasizes the importance of personal and social development. Our students are encouraged to develop strong interpersonal skills, resilience, and empathy. They engage in group projects, collaborative activities, and extracurricular pursuits that foster teamwork and leadership qualities. We provide them with a supportive environment that nurtures self-confidence, self-awareness, and emotional intelligence, preparing students for the challenges they may face in and beyond the classroom.

SILS KS3 plays a crucial role in preparing students for the transition to secondary education. It equips them with the necessary skills and tools to thrive in a more independent and demanding academic environment. Our students learn effective study habits, time management skills, and critical research capabilities. We also encourage them to explore a range of subjects and extracurricular activities, helping them make informed decisions about their future educational pathways.

Recognizing the diverse needs and abilities of students, we at SILS offer individualized support and differentiation. Our teachers provide tailored instruction, personalized feedback, and targeted interventions to ensure that every student can reach their full potential. At SILS KS3, we promote inclusivity, celebrate diversity, and create a safe and nurturing environment where students feel valued and supported.

Year 9 has a special blend where it provides the edge of Egyptian MOE El’adadya and the preparation for the IGCSE. So, our students are sitting for the MOE exams as well as achieving the IGCSE core knowledge needed for that progression.
